I find that sending a Thank You Card when someone makes a purchase from me is an excellent place to start a long lasting customer relationship. This is of course using the example of Internet marketing where people purchase products directly from my websites. Once the order is taken I will then have the customers mailing details and so it is very easy to add them to my data-base and send them a thank you card and follow up with them on a consistent basis.
With my Internet marketing business, the initial sale of a product is sometimes the very beginning of a process and there are other products and services that the customer most likely will be interested in. Offering your help to people will naturally lead to more satisfied customers and more sales for you.
Here is an example of a card that I send out to someone after they have purchased an info product that I sell:
Card Front
I just love this picture and it pretty much sums up the way people feel when the are entering into a new venture where they are faced with a lot of new information. This image is quite powerful; there are the waves in the background that are threatening to overwhelm and there is that star fish there willing to help the other one out (which is you of course). Apart from the fact that this is a powerful image, it is just a fun picture. This is a picture that I got from iStock and then simply made this card.
I write a personalised message offering my customer support and assistance and then on the inside of the card at the bottom there is all of my contact details, my image and the same picture slightly faded behind all of that. This makes a wonderful first impression.
Card Inside Flap
I absolutely love this card and so do my customers. Many of them just want to talk with me so they can find out how I made such a cool card. You will also see that I am branding my self as being Australian and also associating myself with the author of the Info-product that I have sold. This is a terrific first contact card that brings killer results and it took me about 15 minutes to make and costs me all of $1.34 US dollars to send this in an envelope with a first class stamp. My customer will get this within 3-5 days of making their purchase.
I have a whole series of follow up cards that I send out which are all designed to have my customers coming to me and asking for more information. This way I am getting my marketing to bring the most qualified customers to me so that I can best leverage my time… which is a wonderful thing.

Do I Know You?
February 27, 2008
I am not suggesting that you send cards out to completely random strangers, however, if you happen to meet someone, even if it is brief, why not send them a quick greeting card?
It is as easy as asking someone for their business card. Once you have their details, make a mental note of something funny or interesting that you talked about and send them a quick card telling them that it was nice to meet them.
Sometimes you may go to a Cafe or a restaurant and find that the service was really good, or a taxi driver that went out of his way to be helpful. Everyday when you are out and about on your travels, you will find someone that you can show your appreciation to.
Random acts of kindness has been popular for some time now, I like to practice random acts of sending thank you cards. Try sending one thank you card a week to a person you have meet on your travels and see what a difference it will make in your life…

Love Your Work
February 26, 2008
How often do people in your work place make your life easier? Have you ever felt unappreciated for the work that you do? A simple thank you card sent to work colleagues to acknowledge their efforts will go a long way in the office.
I work in a marketing team that is scattered across the globe, literally. I use greeting cards to thank people for their help; encourage people when they are feeling low; recognize milestones in their career; or congratulate them on a birthday, anniversary, wedding or birth. There are so many reasons to send colleagues cards and then of course you can send one just because.
You will find if you make this a regular practice you will have better relations and get more done as a team. It is so simple to do, yet the good effects are quite profound.

What Are Friends For?
February 26, 2008
You can only see a bit of this picture; this is me getting a fishing lure out of a good friends backside. It was quite a humorous moment. Fortunately my other friend happened to have the camera handy and so we were able to get a snap shot of the biggest hook up of the weekend!
Fishing trips for me are always a chance to get away with some good friends and talk about everything under the sun. On this particular fishing trip I had a few problems that I was working out and so it was really great to have my close friends around at that time.
I sent the guy whose backside has the hook in it, this card with a heart felt message of thanks on the inside. On the left inside cover of the card I put a picture of me holding undoubtedly the best catch of the weekend. I put a funny slogan at the top of the picture;
“now that is how you catch a fish”
It is quite easy to send a card with your and your friends picture on it. It is always fun to do and rarely goes unappreciated.

Appreciating Family
February 26, 2008
In the busy world that we live in, it is such a nice thing to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the people that are closest to us. I often send greeting cards to thank family members for all sorts of things. It can be as simple as making the effort they made to come and visit, a call, or a gift that I have received for a special occasion.
I like to use my digital camera and capture the moment. If we are out at the park playing or having a BBQ, I will take a photo and then surprise them by turning the photo into a great card and sending it in the mail. Sending a thank you card is such an easy thing to do and being able to quickly turn a photo into a card means that I always have just the right card for every occasion.
A while ago, I went to the aquarium with my sister and her two boys. We had a great day out and saw many exciting things. I sent my 5 year old nephew a card with him on the front cover, standing in front of some big sharks that he was looking at. It was a nice way to thank him for a great weekend and also remind him of the great time we had together.
You will see him standing there looking at the sharks and other fish. I simply put the guess who caption on the photo and put some other great photos of our weekend on the inside of the card. You can imagine the excitement of a 5 year to get a card in the mail, and then to open it and see yourself on the front cover…what a hoot!
When he got the card he called to say thank you and we had a great chat about the time we spent in Sydney at the zoo and the aquarium.
The reason the greeting card company I work for came into existence was because of an accident that killed the CEO’s brother. He was busy moving house and felt an urge to contact his brother but he let it pass because he had too many other things to do at the time. His bother was killed soon after and he didn’t ever get to tell him that he appreciated and loved him.
The result of this tragedy was a greeting card company that allows people to act on a prompting by sending a physical card in the mail with the convenience of being able to browse from a huge collection of cards online, type in your message, and hit the send button. Within a few working days the person has a top quality card, in an envelope, with a first class stamp on it. This is at a cost surprisingly less than what it actually costs to buy a standard greeting card.
This makes it so easy to thank the people that are closest to you, even if you are physically a long way away. The ability to upload your own photos makes these thank you cards just that little bit extra special.
Give it a try, you will be surprised by the response.

Thank You Card Journal - Day 3
December 3, 2007
Today was a super easy one to send 2 thank you cards. My sister drove 400km with her three boys and my mum to help my wife organize her kitchen cupboards. My Mum gave us a whole set of Tupperware as a wedding present.
My Sister’s youngest boy is only a few months old, and the other two are 5 and 3. Driving 400km just for the weekend is such a huge effort. A note to tell her how much I appreciate her was the least I could do.
It seems the ladies were in their element though; a kitchen, cupboards, and a load of Tupperware seemed to make them as happy as can be (must be a women thing). I must say when I go to get something from the cupboard now, it is so much easier to find these days.
My sister is a married to a farmer on the east coast of Australia. They have had an extremely tough time with the drought over the last few years. My sister has an amazing attitude and always comes to visit in a wonderfully positive frame of mind. She is probably tired, worried, and stressed but she just keeps looking forward. It is so easy to admire a women with such fortitude and courage. Thanking her is always a very easy thing to do!
Thank You Card #2
My mum is such a kind and generous person that I never even need a reason to thank her but like my sister, she made the long journey and took the day off work to do it. Even though she has just moved into a new house and still had a lot of things she could have been doing, she made the time.
My mum is one of those people that will do anything for anyone if they ask and often even when they don’t ask (seems to be a trait of many mums). I find these super kind people can often feel unappreciated and so it is really good to be aware of this and acknowledge there acts of kindness.
My mum is always touched to the extreme when she is thanked for her kindness. I think like most people, she just loves to be appreciated, respected, and acknowledged for who she is.
Tupperware is a great thing, thanks mum!

Thank You Card Journal - Day 2
December 2, 2007
Sending a thank you card is a great way to start the day. I am finding it a good practice to have to really think about 2 people that I want to thank each day. I have a feeling as time goes on, it will become more like a habit.
Today the first person I sent a thank you card is a patient of mine. (I am an acupuncturist as well as an Internet marketer.)
She is 95 years old, and an amazing women. Recently she brought in a beautiful Japanese Haiku calendar as a Christmas present for my wife and I.
Even though she is quite old, she always manages to get about on her own and when the fruits are in season she will often come with jams and sauces that she has made. It is so easy to thank her.
Thank You Card #2
Once again it was rather easy to find someone to send a thank you card to. My second card was a fun one and I probably spent a little more time than I though I would, but I know my little nephews will get a kick out of it so it was well worth the time.

I wanted to thank them for being great boys on the weekend when they came to visit with my sister and mum. It is a 800km round trip and they came for just the weekend to help us out. They never grumbled or mumbled and had fun even though they were obviously tired.
Earlier in the year we had a trip to Sydney together and went to the Aquarium and the Zoo. I always like to remind them of the fun times we have had together.
The front of this card is my little nephew mesmerized by all the wonderful creatures of the sea. This was a perfect chance to thank them for being such good boys while reminding them of a fun times we had together.
I also got to tell them that I had spoken with Santa and that he should be able to arrange a very useful gift indeed. There is nothing like building the excitement around Christmas for the little ones.
I am not a dad yet, but I sure do love being an Uncle.
