Another Birthday Card

Here is a card that I sent to my 4 year old nephew, Noah. He lives on farm in regional N.S.W, The Rock. This picture was taken a little over a year ago when we were playing in the shearing shed. The door that Noah is coming through is where the sheep go once they have been sheared. We had lots of fun playing that day and Noah would not have seen this photo yet…I am sure he will get a nice surprise when he opens it.

The birthday image on the inside of the card I grabbed from Clip Art for the inside of the card. Hector Meter is something that I call Noah and he always giggles madly when I do and no doubt he will get a kick out of this one.

This birthday card took me about 15 minutes to make and to send to Australia with a first class stamp cost $1.87 all up…not bad at all!

Happy Birthday Bruce!

March 25, 2008

bruces-birthday-card.pngBefore I started using my online greeting card service, I could count the number of birthday cards that I sent in the post, in a year on one hand.

It is sad to say but; going to the newsagent, sifting through the cards to get the right one, writing the message in it, and then lining up at the post office just doesn’t appeal to me for some reason.

My Greeting card service has a contact manager built into it and reminds me 10 days before a contact’s birthday. All I need to do is select a card from my online catalog, write my message, and hit send. The card will arrive in the post, with my own handwriting font inside, within a week!

Today I sent a birthday card to a client I had when I was working in Sydney. I got very close to him and his family, so I really enjoyed sending this birthday card.

Bruce would be in his mid 50’s now but I am sure he is still as cool as ever. When he was turning fifty his wife and I would tease him about his mid life crisis…the convertible Mercedes Benz.

Sending a birthday card is such an easy thing to do and is always appreciated.

Appreciating Family

February 26, 2008

family.gifIn the busy world that we live in, it is such a nice thing to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the people that are closest to us. I often send greeting cards to thank family members for all sorts of things. It can be as simple as making the effort they made to come and visit, a call, or a gift that I have received for a special occasion.

I like to use my digital camera and capture the moment. If we are out at the park playing or having a BBQ, I will take a photo and then surprise them by turning the photo into a great card and sending it in the mail. Sending a thank you card is such an easy thing to do and being able to quickly turn a photo into a card means that I always have just the right card for every occasion.

A while ago, I went to the aquarium with my sister and her two boys. We had a great day out and saw many exciting things. I sent my 5 year old nephew a card with him on the front cover, standing in front of some big sharks that he was looking at. It was a nice way to thank him for a great weekend and also remind him of the great time we had together.

You will see him standing there looking at the sharks and other fish. I simply put the guess who caption on the photo and put some other great photos of our weekend on the inside of the card. You can imagine the excitement of a 5 year to get a card in the mail, and then to open it and see yourself on the front cover…what a hoot!

When he got the card he called to say thank you and we had a great chat about the time we spent in Sydney at the zoo and the aquarium.

The reason the greeting card company I work for came into existence was because of an accident that killed the CEO’s brother. He was busy moving house and felt an urge to contact his brother but he let it pass because he had too many other things to do at the time. His bother was killed soon after and he didn’t ever get to tell him that he appreciated and loved him.

The result of this tragedy was a greeting card company that allows people to act on a prompting by sending a physical card in the mail with the convenience of being able to browse from a huge collection of cards online, type in your message, and hit the send button. Within a few working days the person has a top quality card, in an envelope, with a first class stamp on it. This is at a cost surprisingly less than what it actually costs to buy a standard greeting card.

This makes it so easy to thank the people that are closest to you, even if you are physically a long way away. The ability to upload your own photos makes these thank you cards just that little bit extra special.

Give it a try, you will be surprised by the response.
