Admiration Greeting Card

October 27, 2009 by Steve A · Comments

Once you get into the swing of sending heart-felt greeting cards it’s not hard to find opportunities to find a person to send a card to…

The other day I had a phone call from a good friend, it had been a while and so it was great to hear from her. Her name is Marcelle and she runs a Yoga studio in our town.

I remember a few years ago when she decided to open the Yoga studio and I was sure that she would do well. She had picked a really great location and fitted it out really nicely….

Her business thrived from day one!

Recently I received a newsletter from her informing all her Yoga students that she would no longer be teaching out of that space but would be at the Church Hall and the local primary school.

When we chatted on the phone there wasn’t even a trace of disappointment in her voice when we talked about the fact that she could no longer work from her current studio…

I really admire her ability to embrace change.

Admiration Greeting Card

Bridge of Balance

I really love Hartwig Koppdelaney’s Images (taken from Flickr) and I really felt that this image of a monk crossing the Bridge Of Balance would be perfect as a card to send to Marcelle.

I asked Hartwig if he would mind me using this image to create a card and he was agreeable.

I also used his poem on the inside top of the card:

The Bridge of Balance

Try to keep yin and yang in balance, Rinpoche said. “Day and night, summer and winter are in balance because they change into each other. Let things change. Don’t fight the coming of the winter. Acceptance sets me free.”

Greeting Card Wording:

Hi Marcelle,

As always, it was a pleasure chatting with you the other day.

I really admire the way you embrace change in such a positive way.

I’m sure the new Yoga spaces will work out fine…with you there how could they not!

Wishing you a smooth and easy transition,

Steve

I thought that this picture was really incredible and I appreciated Hartwig’s permission to use it.

A simple card that took a very short time but I’m sure it will be appreciated.

Greeting Card Reaction

It’s really interesting how sending out heartfelt messages ultimately comes back to the sender. Marcelle came in for treatment a few days after I had sent the card. While I was treating her the topic of the Yoga Studio move came up and interestingly she was getting a lot of negative feedback from people about the fact that she was moving premises…people were obviously attached to the old place and felt that she had let them down.

When I spoke with Marcelle the other day on the phone I felt prompted to send her a card to appreciate her attitude towards change.

This afternoon I received a call from Marcelle (literally hours after her treatment, how’s that for good timing?) thanking me for my card, she was absolutely thrilled and totally loved it; the picture, the saying, and just the fact that I would take time out of my day to actually send a card!

She felt good and I felt good. This is what sending out positivity is all about, it’s a mutual cycle of good feelings!
